Below Photo: 1 in 6 people go hungry in the State of Alabama (so the news reports say) and the great fishermen in Alabama catch sharks, cut out the teeth and discard the rest of the edible shark. Shark attacks killed 12 people worldwide in 2011, while people kill more than 30 million sharks every year. (1) Rather skewed ratio don't you think? Some say overfishing has killed off more than 90 percent of the shark population in the world and it is upsetting the balance of life in the oceans. But who cares - the Government makes money off Fishing Licenses. Plus, killing an alien life form with whom man cannot communicate with makes man feel superior.
Above Photo: Scum Jones' poor leadership in Mobile has yielded City Parks as being the problem instead of the solution with reference to public garbage being released into Mobile creeks, rivers, and Mobile Bay. This pathetic scene above is far too common in City of Mobile Parks. Someone should be fired!

Above Photo: Helen Wood Park, a local fishing spot, is typically lined with litter. Trouble is this park is at the edge of Mobile Bay so the illegal public litter ends up polluting Mobile Bay.
The bungling Federal Government and Police Tactical Units who despite having the most sophisticated tracking tools in the world and thousands of police officers involved in the hunt, failed to find the Boston Marathon bomber suspect who was on foot and leaving a trail of blood. A Watertown resident had to point out the location of the suspect who was a block away. That reminds me of the incompetence of the City of Mobile and Mobile Police who despite having video technology tools at their disposal, can't figure out who is trashing the City of Mobile parks to put an end to the criminal littering activity. Of course, it is not the police who should be taking care of the litter issues, it is after all, City of Mobile municipal code that makes litter illegal. Oh, that's right, it is the City of Mobile is in charge of the writing tickets to deter littering, not the police. The Big Picture? The City of Mobile Litter Unit is dysfunctional. Below Photo: McNally Park, a local fishing spot, is typically lined with litter. Trouble is this park is at the edge of Mobile Bay so the illegal public litter ends up polluting Mobile Bay. Above photo: Fishing area in Baldwin county on the Causeway next to Felix's Restaurant. Always littered. You can even see the litter they throw in the water.
Most fishing areas in Mobile and Baldwin county are littered. If the fish & litter piggies can't keep keep their fishing areas clean, authorities should close the areas. What authorities expect out of the fisherman they will get. Right now slob fisherman don't care what they do and authorities seemingly don't care. The fix is easy. Below photo: People don't appreciate what they have until they lose it. Make fisherman keep their areas litter free or close down the areas to the public. Real expectations and real consequences can change behavior. There is a 100-1000 Restore Coastal Alabama Project which is allegedly restoring Coastal Alabama. What does this group do? At Pelican Point they put mason blocks in the water along one of the few state beaches there are on the Eastern Shore. Won't be any swimming at this beach any more. Restore the Coast? I don't believe Mason Blocks were ever part of the natural coast. This is someone's pet project.
To get these mason blocks sunk in the water took hundreds of people - volunteers who walked all over some wildflowers to get to this beach area. The wildflower shown below is called Birdfoot Trefoil or Eggs and Bacon (Lotus corniculatus). It looks like a yellow pea flower and has red stripes on it - no relation to the large Lotus flower. According to online sources the only place this Birdfoot Trefoil wildflower is found along the entire Gulf Coast states is in Mobile and Baldwin County. 100-1000 partners did not care where they made their work trail. Great project eh? Destroy the State beach for swimmers and destroy the rare beach vegetation. It is my understanding that FEMA is paying to remove the natural debris (logs)
from Airbus Bay which is also known as Arlington Park Bay. (Mobile Bay by Brookley) Why use taxpayer money to remove the natural logs but leave the trash pollution? How dumb can FEMA get? There is no Federal Emergency here. The miserable Shity of Mobile apparently likes to live in its squalor. Meantime, this contractor has to be laughing all the way to the bank. This is one of the reasons why the people who think spending more money to teach the public not to litter is not going to solve the litter problem. The City of Mobile still uses an inferior trash collection system that is conducive to the littering of parks and roadway ditches regardless of what people do.
The City of Mobile announced it plans to clamp down on derelict buildings.
They want to get rid of the eye-sores. The City should clean up their own properties before they go telling private land owners what to do. What do these two photos have in common?
Both are public fishing sites. Who is polluting the environment here? The people fishing in the area. Who needs to be fined? The people fishing in the area. What are the authorities doing about the pollution? Look at the photos. Nothing. Recommendation? Ban fishing in these areas until the trash is removed. As long as there is no consequence to the criminal act of littering, fishermen will keep littering. Dog River is only one watershed suffering from the City of Mobile's storm water system neglect.
Garrows Bend has two unnamed urban waterways which also serve as Mobile's garbage chutes. Mobile Airport Authority's 6th Street drainage ditch sends trash directly into Mobile Bay. Where is Mobile Baykeeper? Who is Guarding the Coast? Where is ADEM? Hello? Anybody Home? The fact that Mobile Baykeeper's President happens to be a retired Senior Vice-President of Sales for Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidate might explain why they ignore plastic bottle pollution. "Mobile Baykeeper works to ensure government agencies enforce local, state and federal law." Really? This waterway pollution is the result of lack of enforcement of existing laws. Mobile Baykeeper should be called Mobile BaySleeper. YeeHaa! Bay Bash parties, Beers and Cheers parties, Hopsfest parties, Imax on Tap parties, and Sweetwater Brewing parties seem to be more important than taking care of Mobile Bay. Hold your mouse on an image to read the commentary or click on it for a larger view. It is time for the two month update concerning these polluted streams. No improvement has been seen. The City of Mobile and the County of Mobile and the State of Alabama continue to allow One Mile Creek, Maple Street Canal and Threemile Creek to function as public garbage dumps and the EPA and ADEM do not seem to care. These three creeks drain to Mobile Bay. No wonder why Arlington Park located by Brookley on Mobile Bay has a shoreline made up of garbage. How many people does the City, the County and State have cleaning up this garbage? Zero. The leaders in Mobile need to be replaced with leaders who care about Mobile's environment. Welcome Airbus to Alabama the Beautiful. This is how Mobile treats its assets. Someone should be fired. The sad part is the garbage you see in these images will likely end up going into Mobile Bay. The waterway trash rots in and around our waterways because our Mobile leaders do not put enough value on Mobile's water to bother even having one person removing the garbage. That is sickening and ugly to the core. Click on any photo below to bring up a larger photo gallery with comments. Arlington Park shoreline in September 2012. The City of Mobile employs ZERO people to remove garbage from its urban waterways which is why garbage coats the Mobile Bay shoreline from Threemile Creek where much of the trash originates all the way to Mississippi. Zero public workers removing the public's trash from our valuable water resources? Do Mobile leaders have brain damage? Have they never heard of the Clean Water Act? |
